Aim of the Role
As our Head of Systems and Development, you will be responsible for our in-house systems, IT infrastructure and cyber security globally. You will lead and manage a team of developers, overseeing their performance, providing guidance, and fostering a high-performance culture. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and operations, to align system projects and improvements with overall company goals. This role will be reporting directly into the board so experience of reporting into senior management teams is crucial.

Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Strategy
- Lead the systems and development team, aligning technology initiatives with business goals.
- Develop and execute strategic roadmaps for systems and software.
- Drive innovation, enforce best practices, and ensure cross-department collaboration.
2. Systems Design and Development
- Oversee architecture and design of scalable, secure, and efficient systems.
- Ensure proper documentation and seamless integration of complex solutions.
3. Project Management
- Manage projects to ensure timely, budget-conscious delivery using agile methodologies.
- Define milestones, allocate resources, and monitor progress.
4. Team Development
- Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.
- Conduct performance reviews and foster a culture of continuous learning.
5. Systems Maintenance
- Oversee system maintenance, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
- Manage upgrades and identify improvement opportunities.
6. Security and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to security standards, data privacy laws, and industry regulations.
- Collaborate on and implement robust security measures.
7. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Liaise with stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate progress.
- Present system updates and technical information to senior management.
8. Budget Management
- Oversee departmental budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and expenditure.
9. Continuous Improvement
- Track KPIs and analyse data to optimise systems and processes.
- Report progress, challenges, and successes to executives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, or a related field an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems development and software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge in system architecture, software development, cloud technologies, databases, and programming languages (e.g., Laravel, JavaScript, Java, SQL).
- Proven experience managing large-scale Laravel based systems and complex development projects.
- Strong knowledge of global cybersecurity principles and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments
